How It Works

Stump grinding uses specialised equipment to remove unwanted tree stumps. Our stump grinder is small enough to fit through the average garden gate, so we can grind stumps in hard-to-reach places. It has carbide-tipped cutting teeth that chew away the stump below ground level — the resulting mulch is usually used to fill the hole, and any excess is yours to keep or we'll cart it away.

Stumps can also be removed with an excavator or bobcat, but these methods often come with drawbacks around access, root ball removal and cost. Our machinery can grind deep enough to remove the root mass as well as chasing and surface roots — and where storm-felled trees have left a root ball mass and hazardous holes, we can return the ground to a safe, usable state.

We're fully insured for your peace of mind, and our prices are affordable and competitive no matter the size of the job.

Stumps and Termites

A stump left in the ground takes years to break down, and while it rots it becomes exactly the kind of damp, decaying timber subterranean termites look for — often only metres from the house. Grinding removes that food source. It is not termite treatment, though: if a colony is already active you need a licensed pest management technician, not us. Our guide to termites and tree stumps explains the difference and what to look for.
